Respected lawyer and President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla is set to launch a book titled “All Progressive Congress: The Making of a Change Agent”.

The book which has been described by President Muhammadu Buhari as an “all inclusive political history of Nigeria… a worthy and commendable effort,” chronicles the story of the first merger in Nigeria’s political landscape while giving insights on the processes and actors. It will be presented to the public on the 27th of April 2017 at the International Conference Center in Abuja by 11am.

Speaking exclusively to The Metro Lawyer, Obla said the book: “is set against the background of a compelling need for change in the 2015 elections, the need at the time for the opposition parties in the country to come together not only to defeat the then ruling party, with the prospects quite bright in the backdrop of bad governance, but also to rescue the nation from the danger of disintegration”.

Okoi Obono-Obla is Senior Special Assistant on Prosecutions to President Buhari. Before his appointment he served as National Legal Adviser and Deputy National Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) before its merger with the action congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigerias people’s party (ANPP) and a faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to form the All Progressive’s Congress (APC). He also served as the secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Alliance/Merger Committee.

He is the co-author of Power Struggles and Corruption: Deconsolidating Democracy In Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Ministers of Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi and Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, are some of the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
